The Cube House

The Cube House, designed by award-winning Dallas-based architect Russell Buchanan, AIA, is custom-designed for Urban Reserve. In the design process, Buchanan was able to maximize the potential of the site while using a pure and natural geometric relationship between two honest cubic shapes. The intersection of these cubes becomes the axis around which vertical circulation is aligned and the living spaces expand. From a gentle twist of pure geometry, a spectacular living space emerges for a truly original custom home.
The design also achieves energy efficiency and carries an Energy Star rating of 48, which is 52% better than what is required of homes built today by current building codes.
Some of the energy efficient characteristics include: geothermal HVAC, thermal windows with Low-E glaze, open cell foam insulation, and an on-demand water heater. The home is targeting a Platinum LEED certification.
